It takes grit to be a mom. Like, bad to the bone grit.
Being a mom is tough. It’s crazy tough. We carry the weight of the world in our bellies and then on our shoulders. We survive pregnancy, childbirth, and then motherhood.
We press on.
Just because we’re superheroes, it doesn’t mean we’re invincible. Unfortunately, motherhood isn’t all sunshine and roses all the time. Some of us suffer from postpartum depression. Some of us have anxiety. And, sometimes it’s just hard, but moms have grit. It’s one of the things that give us our superpowers.
We’re not always happy, and that’s ok! It’s normal to not be blissfully happy 100% of the time.
Grit is defined as “courage and resolve; strength of character.” Although that is not the technical definition of mom, it’s pretty damn close.
We nurture and love our babies. We try to raise them to be decent human beings, and that takes courage and resolve. It definitely takes strength of character!
Grit is incredible, but man, does it make you tired. Being a mom is exhausting. Then, when we least expect it, our babies find a way to recharge our dead batteries. They know when to smile or say something to make us laugh. They know how to invigorate us.
We keep going for our babies. They’re the reason we are moms.
Mama, just keep going. You are amazing!
