Sometimes, we just have to survive the days. Here are a few of my toddler mom hacks that make life a little easier. They are basic, but I hope they help!
Faster Morning Routine
Mornings are hard enough. Mornings with a toddler will straight wear you down. Here are a couple things that make my life a little easier in the mornings.
- Daily hair care is never a reality for me. I don’t have the time in the AM. I used to survive on Aveeno Dry Shampoo, but I recently discovered a new product that is even better to revive your hair on the 2nd or 3rd or 4th day without a wash (please don’t judge me): Pomifera Hair Oil. A little pump of this and my hair is super shiny and smooth plus it smells great, too.
- If you have a toddler, you probably have dark circles. The best concealer I’ve found to brighten under my eye is Neutrogena Blemish Concealer. This is what I prefer, but I assume any smudgy stick concealer would work just as well. Can you tell I’m not an expert beauty blogger? I just try to look like I didn’t just step out of the boxing real. That’s really the best I can do.
Organization
Let me just warn you…it is really impossible to stay organized with a toddler squirming around. Even though it may not happen, here are a few things that I use (to try) to stay organized.
- Bin Toy Boxes. These things are awesome. My daughter loves all puzzles and flashcards (basically the more pieces the better), so these have been huge to keep her crap off the living room floor.
- Book Sleeve Shelves. If your toddler is anything like mine, you have way too many books. These are perfect for organizing them, and your kid will have a great time taking all the books out and throwing them over their shoulder on the floor.
Teething Solutions
Teething is a b-word. Nothing really solves the problem, but cold stuff usually does help. However, I’m not a huge fan of all the sugar in regular popsicles. My best hack for my teething toddler is Flavored Water Pops. Just use liquid mix and water, and freeze them in DIY popsicles like this. Kids love them, and zero sugar added!
Car Entertainment
Car rides suck. My daughter absolutely hates being confined to her car seat. She’s a free spirit…I have no idea where she gets that from. I’m always forgetting things too. The best hack I’ve found for this is a car necessity basket. I have a cheap Dollar Tree basket in my car that has a few extra diapers, a package of wipes, diaper rash cream, a couple books, and a few random toys. I keep this behind my console so I can hand my daughter random toys when she starts screaming. It also comes in handy when we randomly go somewhere and I forget to pack the diaper bag. See my post on Mom Brain for more info on that.
Learning to Dress
My daughter is learning to dress herself a little. That means she loves to take her shoes off and on a minimum of 400x per day. It’s miserable if she can’t get the shoes back on herself. Baby Crocs have been a lifesaver for us. She can get them on and off with ease, and they also clean up super easy whenever she steps in dog poop or some other questionable substance.
